Vicky considers herself fortunate to have been in the first nosework classes started by a team of detection trainers
to bring the joy of searching to companion dogs! From the inception of fun nosework training until her departure from California in 2015 she trained extensively with Ron Gaunt, Amy Herot and Jill Marie O-Brien. the founders of NACSW. Vicky participated in the first nosework trials and has continued to compete with her dogs to this day earning Elite champion titles as well as Summit titles. She competed in the last NACSW invitational event with her dog Kendra.
As she became more involved with dog training by earning certifications in animal behavior, training, canine fitness, hydrotherapy, and massage work, she completed the program to become a CNWI in 2012. Currently she teaches classes full time, judges nosework/scentwork competitions for NACSW and other venues and is excited to have joined the NACSW CO team.
Vicky's philosophy of training and competing in nosework is to always cherish the engagement with your dog in this amazing sport. She continues to be in awe of the wonders of the canine olfactory system. She believes the sport of scentwork has built relationships between dogs and handlers that is different from any other sport. It is one built on mutual trust and respect for each part of the dog/handler team.
