This trial was a preliminary trial and practice match for the first NACSW trial on January 25, 2009. The practice match included the same elements required for the NW1 title level. The match was held at a warehouse & office building in Torrance, CA.

BOX DRILL:(15 Points)[2-minute maximum search time]
EXTERIOR AREA SEARCH:(30 Points)[4-minute maximum search time]
INTERIOR BUILDING SEARCH: (35 Points)[4-minute maximum search time]
VEHICLE SEARCH: (20 Points)[3-minute maximum search time]
Dogs in this match were searching for the target odor of BIRCH OIL.Scented Q-tips were hidden in search areas not visible to the handlers. In the time limit given, handlers needed to cover the search areas with their dogs and identify where their dogs indicated the source of odor.
The top placements in this competition were awarded based on accuracy first, and then the shortest total time for each find.

THE FIRST HARRY AWARD WINNER
The Harry Award is dedicated in loving memory and honor of a noble dog, Harry the Beauceron and is awarded to the most outstanding rescue dog that demonstrates extraordinary ability and spirit in nose work. The winner is selected from the three, top-scoring rescue dogs along with input from the judges. In tribute to Harry, the judges look for unique talent and ability in the dog and a strong handler/K9 relationship demonstrated throughout the competition. The award is presented by Penny Scott-Fox who was Harry's owner and handler. Our congratulations to MURIEL and her dedicated handler, Jeff McMahon.
